The Role:

We are looking for a Project Test and Inspection Engineer to receive and inspect electro-mechanical components for the Advanced Light Source Update (ALS-U) project.

Project Test and Inspection Engineer responsibilities include working closely with our Technical Staff and Vendors to oversee all phases of technical component purchase and receipt. Development of equipment tracking logs, including vendor information, budgets, quotes, and progress. Receiving components and performing a complete quality inspection to include specification verification and performance testing in accordance with written procedures. You will perform various coordinating tasks, along with administrative duties, to include project documentation and handling vendor queries. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent time management and technical/mechanical skills. Training will be provided via on-the-job training and this role will be fully integrated with a technical team.

Job Location:

–      This position requires full-time on-site at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Entering requisitions in our project requisition form and creating the requisitions in our financial management system.
  • Making purchases through our in-house procurement system, eBuy,
  • Creating and tracking Web Job Orders (WJO)
  • Working with our technical team, procurement and vendors to address any administrative issues related to our Examples: obtaining quotes, delivery updates, PO modifications, delivery tracking, coordinating with lab’s custom clearance, etc.
  • Stock management in our inventory management platform – entering new items, tagging with barcode,
  • Coordinating storage logistics with the project logistics coordinator
  • Coordinating shipments to and between vendors
  • Conducting receipt inspection, some assembly and performance testing of electro-mechanical components

Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience in a technical and mechanical capacity.
  • Ability to manage and organize tasks within competing priorities and different timescales
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and strong sense of urgency
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring new ideas and eagerness to continuously learn and take on tough problems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills to be able to handle a dynamic
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast pace
  • Experience in developing and nurturing effective internal and/or external customer
  • Experience in interacting effectively with all levels of internal and/or external personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
